Manufacturer documents checked October 3, 2026; wind test dated 2020
Manufacturer specifications and limited-warranty terms, not Fence Advisors product testing, a promised service life, or a blanket code approval.

Trex lists 95% recycled content for its composite fencing and a 25-year residential / 10-year commercial limited warranty for Trex Fencing. Seclusions uses vertical interlocking pickets; Horizons is horizontal with a metal frame. Those facts do not promise zero maintenance, free labor or a guaranteed lifespan. Trex product page; warranty Table I.
This independent reference answers specifications and warranty questions, not whether composite is always the best purchase. For that broader comparison, use the composite fence guide. Fence Advisors did not test these products, and this article is not sponsored.
Trex fence specifications at a glance
| Item | Documented fact | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Recycled content | 95% reclaimed wood and plastic; manufacturer-reported | Product page |
| Residential warranty | 25 years, limited and prorated | Warranty Table I/II |
| Commercial warranty | 10 years, limited | Warranty Table I |
| Seclusions | Vertical interlocking design | Collections |
| Horizons | Horizontal design with black metal frame | Collections |
The recycled-content claim is attributed to Trex, not measured independently here. It does not establish fencing sales, whole-life carbon savings or local recyclability. Corporate or decking sales figures should not be relabeled Trex fence statistics.
Seclusions component dimensions
| Component | Manufacturer-listed dimensions |
|---|---|
| Composite post | 5 x 5 in; lengths 8, 9 or 12 ft |
| Picket / bottom rail cover | 1 x 5.75 in; lengths 67 or 91 in |
| Aluminum bottom rail | 2.7 x 5.1 x 90.5 in |
| Composite top rail | 4 x 4.9 x 91 in |

Use current Seclusions drawings and installation resources. Do not reuse a Seclusions parts list for Horizons merely because both contain composite. A 91-inch component does not mean every post center belongs 91 inches apart.

Source: Trex warranty Table II. Remedies are conditional product replacement or purchase-price refund at Trex's option. Removal, replacement labor and freight are excluded to the stated extent permitted by law. Installation, use, maintenance and other conditions apply; normal weathering and color variation are not blanket color-retention promises.
An illustrative calculation
For $1,000 of qualifying product purchase price in year 20, the published 20% factor gives $200 in a refund illustration. It is not 20% of the entire installed bill, a prediction of failure, or a promised cash payout: replacement is an alternative remedy. These example amounts are arithmetic, not market prices.
Ask for both the manufacturer warranty and the installer's separate workmanship terms. Use the quote comparison worksheet rather than combining them into one headline warranty length.
Read wind test methods, not just the headline
The 6-foot Seclusions Intertek report, dated February 11, 2020, tested specified 8-foot-wide by 6-foot-high assemblies with a rigid fixture simulating post embedment. Fan-generated speed increased in steps; the 130-mph exposure listed for one test lasted 28 seconds, not hours of storm conditions.
The report records an end picket disengaging from its attachment in one test while the infill remained intact. The 147-mph figure is a calculated equivalent three-second gust, not a separate full-storm field trial. The report says the results apply to tested samples and are not product certification or laboratory endorsement. Sections 1, 5 and 8.
Trex's technical library distinguishes height configurations and says wind capacity is not a warranted product function. Do not transfer one result to every height, foundation, soil or wind-design requirement. The wind-load guide explains why a site-specific detail matters.
Questions for a supplier or installer
- Which product, component revision and drawing does this quote specify?
- Are posts, reinforcement, brackets, rails and gate hardware itemized?
- How are slopes, corners, foundations and gate loads addressed?
- Which manufacturer warranty applies, and what workmanship labor is covered separately?
- What care is required, including at a corrosive or coastal site?
Compare alternatives with the wood species guide and vinyl guide. Research availability through fence suppliers and installation experience through fence contractors.
Methodology and citation
We checked manufacturer documents on October 3, 2026. The fact sheet records source URLs, dimensions and warranty factors. No independent durability, content, wind or cost testing is claimed. A document's upload date is not its test date.
Suggested citation: Fence Advisors, Trex Fence Specifications & Warranty, checked October 3, 2026, with the specific original document. Read the complete terms applicable to a purchase or claim; this reference is not legal advice. The composite guide remains the broader buying-intent page, and the cost guide is not a Trex price quotation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Trex Seclusions horizontal fencing?
No. Trex describes Seclusions as vertical and Horizons as horizontal with a black metal frame. Follow the selected system's documents.
Does the 25-year warranty cover the entire installed bill?
No. This limited product warranty has conditions, proration and exclusions, including removal and replacement labor to the extent stated and permitted by law. Workmanship terms are separate.
Did Fence Advisors test the 95% recycled-content figure?
No. It is a manufacturer-reported claim, not an independent measurement or a fencing market-share statistic.
Does the wind test mean any Trex installation is hurricane approved?
No. Results apply to the tested assembly and method, not every installation or local code requirement.
